Wet Rot Can Affect Hardwoods & Softwoods
There are many types of Wet Rot. Similar remedial measures are required for all of them once the source of the moisture has been removed.
Although not as serious as Dry Rot, Wet Rots are still a common cause of structural defects. It requires a higher moisture content than Dry Rot to become active.
Wet Rot does not usually spread over brickwork, stonework or other porous materials and is therefore easier to control. After an attack by this fungus, the timber is left with small cuboidal splits and longitudinal cracks, usually less deep than Dry Rot and is dark brown in appearance.
